BT Basic – As part of our social responsibility agenda, we also have a BT Basic Calling Plan (www.bt.com/basic). You can usually get BT Basic if you're claiming Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Pensions Credit (Guarantee Credit) or Employment and Support Allowance (income related).

Calls & line rental

Line Rental Saver £129 for 12 months in advance by debit/credit card – (equivalent to £10.75 a month). One per household. You'll need to pay any additional call charges by Direct Debit and switch to e-billing for this service. Advance payment is non-refundable. Exclusions and conditions apply.

Standard line rental – £15.45 a month with Direct Debit. There's a 12 month minimum term and connection charges may apply.

Unlimited UK calls – Your calling plan will include Unlimited Weekend (midnight Friday to midnight Sunday), Unlimited Evening & Weekend (7pm to 7am Mon-Fri and all weekend) or Unlimited Anytime calls. This means calls of up to an hour to numbers that begin with 01, 02 and 03 (some areas, including Channel Islands, are excluded – a full list can be found in the Terms & Conditions).

Customers in Northern Ireland, can also make local and national calls on their calling plan to landlines throughout Ireland (not to numbers beginning 818, 700, 83, 85, 86, 87 and 89).

0845 and 0870 numbers are also included within your inclusive call times (excluding Calling Card and Dial-through access numbers and dial-up internet access).

Any calls over an hour will be charged at normal rates (you can hang up and redial to avoid these charges).

0870 numbers – cost a maximum of 10.2p a minute plus a 15p set-up fee. 070 numbers – cost a maximum of 51p a minute plus a maximum 51p set-up fee. Set-up fee – 15p set-up fee applies to all chargeable calls.

Connection charges

Connection charge and engineer visits – A charge may apply for new lines or where an engineer visit is required.

• TV, Broadband and Calls new connection:FREE for customers who require a new BT line (normally £130).
• Broadband and Calls new connection: FREE for customers who require a new BT line (normally £130).
• BT line only new connection (no broadband or TV): £40 for customers who require a new BT line (normally £130 – see specific terms below).
• Engineer visit: This may be required if you have an existing line that needs additional work (i.e. if the wiring/socket is damaged). The charge for an engineer visit is £130.
  • If your home has had a telephone service from BT in the recent past, the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has a dial tone, it's likely that this connection charge/engineer visit will not apply to you.
  • If there's no suitable BT line available in your property or damage to the existing socket/wiring then an £130 engineer visit may be required.
  • We'll let you know whether you need to pay a connection charge/engineer visit charge on your order summary before you check out.
  • All connection charges and engineer visit charges are subject to survey.
  • Any charge will be added to your first BT bill.
  • If you have been disconnected for non-payment in the past the standard full £130 connection charge will apply.
• £40 Connection Offer: Customers who require a new line will benefit from a -£90 discount on the standard line connection charge of £130. Customers who are benefiting from this offer must agree to an 18 month contract. A minimum call requirement of 2 calls per month is associated with this product. BT Answer 1571 voicemail – The call return feature does not work with withheld or international numbers. Customers who use Call Barring (and select option 1) will not be able to use 1571. The attempted call set-up will cost 18.7p. Some social/burglar alarm equipment may not be compatible with 1571 (check with your supplier). A minimum call requirement of 2 calls per month is associated with this product. Calls can be chargeable or those included with your chosen call plan. A charge of £2 applies in each month that you do not make the required number of calls. BT 1471 – BT 1471 is free but the Call Return feature costs a fixed fee of 18.7p (applies whether or not the call is connected). Dial 141 before your call to avoid your number being obtained through 1471/Caller Display.

BT Privacy at Home – Available with or without Caller Display. If you choose to take Caller Display Display a minimum call requirement of 2 calls per month is associated with this product. Calls can be chargeable or those included with your chosen call plan. A charge of £2 applies in each month that you do not make the required number of calls. Calls to the following numbers will not count towards the minimum call requirement: 0800/0808/0500 Freephone numbers; 100/198/155 Operator; 112/998/999 Emergency services; 150 BT Customer Services; 151 BT Fault Reporting; 195 Blind and Disabled Directory Enquiries; 1471/1571. Calls made using BT Broadband Talk and Chargecard are also excluded.

Caller Display – Caller Display cannot disclose the number if it's withheld, unavailable, from a payphone, some switchboards or a non-BT network. Requires a compatible phone.

Call Minder – £3.30 a month. Call Minder cannot identify a number if it's withheld or unavailable. Some social/burglar alarm equipment may not be compatible (check with your supplier).

Anonymous Call Reject – Anonymous Call Reject will not bar incoming calls when the number is unavailable.

Broadband

BT Total Broadband & BT Infinity

BT Home Hub is included with all broadband packages (except if you have already been provided with a Home Hub or Router) and a £6.95 delivery charge applies. If you stop your service in the first year we'll charge you £49 towards the cost of the hub. The BT Home Hub can also be bought for £99 at the BT Shop. The wireless range of the hub varies depending on your home environment.

BT Broadband speeds BT offers maximum download speeds of up to 16Mb in high speed areas, based on the technology available. You can get up to 16 Mb speeds in around 80% of the UK. Other factors affecting speed include distance from the exchange, internal home wiring and time of day. We'll always offer the best available speed on your line.

BT Infinity speeds referred to are download speeds; speeds affected by various factors including distance from the cabinet, time of day and internal home wiring. If your line won't support our top speed, we'll offer the best speed available. We'll always offer the best available speed on your line.

Security – all options include BT Family Protection. Unlimited Broadband extra and BT Infinity also include BT Net Protect Plus. Opt-in and manual activation required. Features may be modified or withdrawn from time to time. They also may not be compatible with some operating systems or software.

Unlimited Wi-Fi minutes available with BT FON, BT Openzone or FON access points outside of the UK. Opt-in and Wireless enabled equipment required. BT Broadband and BT Infinity customers only. Conditions and fair use policy applies – see www.bt.com/btfon for details.

BT Cloud – BT doesn't support activities which infringe the copyrights of the holder. You need to activate the service yourself. This service will be stopped and your back-up files deleted if you don't use it for 90 days. Terms apply. See full terms and conditions for more details.

YouView from BT £49 activation. £6.95 hub delivery charge. To get YouView from BT you'll need to sign up to a 12-month TV contract and an 18-month contract for BT Broadband or Infinity (existing BT Broadband customers with less than 12 months left on their contract need to re-contract their Broadband for 12 months). TV Essential is £5 a month. If you stop your service in the first year you'll be charged up to £199. Terms apply. Scrollback loads of BBC, ITV, C4 & C5 content. ITV Catch-up not available in NI.
