Local man Stephen Leathem, his wife Jackie and children Jordan and Zara have recently upgraded their BT broadband service to BT Infinity, BT’s superfast fibre optic broadband, which offers download speeds of up to 40Mb and upload speeds of 10Mb. The family have been BT customers for over seven years, but since they opted for BT Infinity six months ago, their online experience has been transformed.Stephen explains how BT Infinity has benefited him and his family.

“As soon as I heard that BT Infinity had become available in the Lurgan area I knew it was the product for us and placed an order with BT straight away.

“The first thing we noticed when we had BT Infinity installed was the incredible increase in the speeds. As a family we spend a lot of time online with everyone often using the internet at the one time. Previously this meant our bandwidth suffered during peak times - but not with BT Infinity!

Meeting family needs

“It’s amazing just how reliant we have become on broadband; at home we have a PC, laptop, Xbox, iPhone and iPad connected to the network and of course everyone is doing something different. The children have a lot of homework which requires them to carry out research online, so regularly use broadband to download information. Like all children their age, they also enjoy social media, streaming music, watching videos and using the Xbox live – with BT Infinity they can do all this without delay.

“With BT Infinity Jordan and Zara can go about their activities without having any impact on what Jackie or I may be doing online. The benefits of fibre optic broadband extend right across our family. Jackie runs her own e-commerce business ‘brightcandy.com’, and so, she is very dependant on a reliable broadband connection to manage and fulfill orders and easily upload product images. Since we upgraded to BT Infinity six months ago, we can actually see results of increased business performance and enjoy much more effective time management.

“No matter what time of day it is, I’m always confident that we will be able to get online at superfast speeds. Downloads of large images, music or video take a fraction of the time it would with a normal broadband connection, making buffering icons a thing of the past!

“With the new BT HomeHub we get a really strong wireless signal throughout the house, which gives us greater flexibility and has made our online experience a lot more enjoyable.

“I’m really happy with the speeds and service we are currently getting from BT and also feel reassured, as a parent, that BT’s Family Protection service – which comes free as part of our package – affords us the opportunity to set up safe boundaries online. Jackie and I are able to block certain websites, set time limits on our kids’ usage and even filter YouTube to ensure that they are not exposed to content we consider unsuitable. It gives us great peace of mind.”
